For businesses selling or storing high value stock, security is a constant concern. Whilst alarms and CCTV can be invaluable as a deterrent and CCTV can help identify the perpetrators after a crime has occurred, wouldn’t it be great to have something that can stop a crime in progress and send the criminals running? That is exactly what Smokecloak offers.
What is it?
Smokecloak is an electronic device which can be hooked up to your intruder alarm and other security systems, providing an additional level of crime prevention. When your alarm is triggered, a thick white vapour is released that quickly fills your premises, preventing intruders for being able to see. Once this vapour is deployed, anyone who has broken in will be unable to steal anything, or carry out any other sort of criminal activity, because they won’t be able to see what they are doing.
The facts
The fog is produced using a specially formulated glycol solution which is non-toxic, so completely safe, and won’t cause any damage to any of your fixtures and fittings, or leave behind any sort of residue.
Smokecloak is highly effective at obscuring vision and extremely fast acting – for example an area of 100 square metres can be filled in under 30 seconds. Once deployed, the glycol fog will typically last for around 45 minutes, unless additional ventilation is used, giving police plenty of time to respond. Different sized units are available to suit premises both large and small while installation is straightforward and cost-effective.
Do I need it?
For anyone storing high value goods or large amounts of cash on site, security smoke is the perfect crime-prevention tool, giving you the confidence that your premises has the best protection possible.
Businesses that have already suffered one or more break-in are likely to benefit from Smokecloak as simply placing notices around your premises stating that the technology is in operation can be enough to deter criminals. In cases where there have been multiple break-ins, some insurance companies may insist on additional security measures in order to continue to provide cover with security smoke often being a preferred option.
It is also worth noting that some insurance companies will offer business owners a discount on their premiums if they install a security smoke system. |
